The moment you received Jesus as your Savior by faith, God sowed His Spirit and Word into your heart like a seed, and you were spiritually born again by the  incorruptible seed of the Word of God (I Peter 1:23).  Just like an apple always produce apples and oranges always produce oranges, God’s seed inside you immediately began to produce GOD!

FRUIT GROWERS ASSOCIATION

 Think on these things...

22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. NIV

Why fruit?
In  Genesis 2:8, “The Lord God planted a garden in the East, in Eden.”  “The Lord God took the man and put him in the Garden of Eden to work it and take care of it.”  Genesis 2:15.    Man’s first calling on earth was to be a gardener.

“Now in the place where He was crucified there was a garden, and in the garden a new tomb in which no one had yet been laid.  So, there they laid Jesus” John 19:41

So,  “The Seed” in Galatians 3:16, “Who was Christ” was taken from the Old Rugged Tree of Life and planted in a garden so that from that planting there could be much increase.

  C. S. Lewis wrote in Mere Christianity:

Do not waste your time bothering whether you 'love' you neighbor;
    act as if you did.
As soon as we do this, we find one of the great secrets.
When you are behaving as if you loved
someone,  you will presently come to love him.
If you injure someone you dislike,   you will  find yourself disliking him more.
If you do him a good turn, you will find yourself disliking him less.

BUT THE GREATEST OF THESE IS LOVE (AGAPE).

There are four different Greek words that are translated “love”:

Eros  -  a self seeking love,  it's sensual & self gratifying, limited to family, love of a parent for a child, or even a dog for his master.

Phileo - is based on mutual satisfaction, it's affection that is mutually beneficial.

Agape. - a love that has no strings attached, a love that loves purely and simply. It's the God kind of love.

Agape isn't looking for what it an get, but rather for what it can give.

The fruit of the spirit love is agape.   Agape is the love spoken of in 1Cor. 13
